  • sumeet kotak: hello sir i had completed B.E. mechanical and i had cleared GATE 2011 and cover 40.33 marks and 418 is my gate score now i am confused about further study or go for job
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Sumeet, Further study and going for job are two different goals. You need to be clear what you want to pursue in short term and long term and accordingly decide. If you are clear, you can accordingly decide your next steps.
  • ABHINAV SINGH: Hello sir. which type of job is best for a fresher civil engg in his field?
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Abhinav, Depends on your interests. At a general level, infrastructure is going to be big in future. Low cost housing will be big. Dams/Bridges/Roads will be big. Take your pick.
  • Amisha Patel: Good afternoon sir,i would like to know is it good for fresher to opt career as Customer relationship manager?
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Amisha, I believe that the field is wide open for a fresher. It is ok to experiment a bit with your career initially to know what you want unless you are very clear.
  • Devesh: hello sir. I want to know that how much CTC/salary should I demand when asked at interview my first job
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Devesh, Understand that the system is always fair and will give you salary based on your skills and what that system/company can offer. So don't have any expectations which will make you feel that you have not got a good deal. Salaries are specific to Industries/Companies and most importantly You.
  • Vikram Sreedharan: hi sir i am a mechanical engineer and i did a course in piping design engineering. I am a fresher. I am finding it difficult to get a job in EPC company.
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Vikram, It will be difficult to comment without knowing the whole process, etc. If possibile, try to get a feedback from the HR or if you know anybody in the company where you are trying. I am sure there are enough companies and you will find something interesting.
  • Ayaz: Hello sir I am BE Computer Science working in Search Engine marketting for past 7 months,Actually i am bit confused whether to move on to the Parent feild ie IT,or remain in this feild .
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Ayaz, Lot of times we take career decisions based on the salaries being offered which is a good way to look at the job market. In 7 months, you would have known whether you are enjoying it or not, whether there is a good future or not. Again, look at your aptitude and decide. Both the fields mentioned will have different job requirements as you grow in the job.
  • virag: can you tell as exactly what Info Edge India Ltd. is about
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Virag, Please visit infoedge.in to know what InfoEdge does. In a nutshell, we are an Internet company having portals like naukri.com, jeevansathi.com, 99acres.com, shiksha.com, brijj.com, allcheckdeals.com.
  • parichaydas: M.tech or MBA which is good for a electrical engg
  • Shalabh Nigam: HI Paricaydas, For stuff like MBA or M.Tech, again these are two very different fields. M.Tech is getting into specialization which might make difficult or easy to get a job since you are more niche. MBA is more about management. Typical strategy is to work in the field for sometime and then decide whether to do MBA? Without having core knowledge, it might not be easy to manage.
  • Ravi Chandra: Good After noon sir, i am a fresh graduate from computer science department what qualities should i require well to do a job in IT field
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Ravi, The key qualities for any engineer is love for maths and science, troubleshooting, creativity. Computer Science requires a lot of liking for algorithms, computation, etc.
  • rohan kumar: hello sir......i have been selected in tcs and they have offered me IT IS job profile. I want to know how IT IS is different for development profile and which one is better.
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Rohan, This question will be best answered by HR of TCS. Each company have their own designations and roles/responsibilities. Will be difficult to comment. In general, go for a role which requires your brain juices to flow. Anything which can be replaced by others is always not a good way to start the career.
  • Jeetendra Bahadur Singh: sir i want to know about php devoloper job
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Jeetendra, PHP is emerging as a powerful language. In fact, we at InfoEdge, use PHP for all our development work.

  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Sneh, This is always a difficult call. One in hand is better than two in the bush. Go with your gut, discuss with your family and seniors. I strongly believe that go for your core or develop your core if changing tracks. Averages don't survive in the long run.
  • jorawar singh: hello Sir, I am Jorawar Singh aspiring Electronics & Comm. Eng. I want to know what does Info Edge do and if i have any job scope in your firm.
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Jorawar, InfoEdge has an elaborate screen process. • surbhi tiwari: hello sir i am an electrical engg 2010 passout & seekin career in my stream only but not gettin a startup as wherevr i apply for job the main drawback is that being a girl cnt go to field .plz gu
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Surbhi, I would suggest that this should be the last criteria in your mind before embarking on a career. Any job in todays world would require you to travel, meet customers, understand requirements, etc. I think it is a mental block and you will get over it once you are clear that this is the field you want to pursue.
  • jagadesh: what is the scope of career in cloud computing

Try to find your interest area and switch to other field if you are convinced that computer science is not the field for you.
  • Md Zeeshaan: Hi sir, want dou think about mtech in civil engg.is it useful,or just experience matters....?

  • Avanthi Ravula: hi goog evening Mr.Nigam I have completed my bachelors in electronics and communication engineering but there are only a few opportunities in that field and most of them were asking for experience
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Avanthi, I feel that there are opportunities in all the fields. If companies are asking for experience due to current economic conditions, it is better to pursue higher studies. Think reasonable long term which is 2-3 years else you will also get caught in the trap of leaving your dreams just to get a job in some backoffice IT company.
  • shafi: Hello Sir, I am web developer(.Net) in an immigration law firm, its been 3 months, I want to build my career as a Developer, can you tell me on what things/skills should I concentrate ?
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Shafi, As a fresher, you should just write good code. That takes care of most of the stuff. Now, writing good code is not easy since you need to check the performance of the code, whether others can make changes in the code after you, best data structures to solve a problem.
  • nitin joshi: hello, sir which language should i learn in order to become a website developer?? java or php
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Nitin, Both java and php are used in website development.
  • Vikram Sreedharan: The job i am getting is for the post of sales engineer. what should i do???
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Vikram, Just see how important is a job for you. From engineering to sales is quite a shift. Find out what the sales engineer in the company does and if it excites you, go for it since your engineering skills will get used to some extent.
  • Somasekhar: Im 2010 btech passed out.still i didnt get any job.now im in confused state ,what to do further ,whether still look for the job or to do mtech.

  • rohan kumar: sir i am an electronics and communication engineer . i want to know that if i join an software company now then can i switch to an electronics company after 2 years
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Rohan, It is not always easy to switch from one field in engineering to another unless you are very lucky or you can convince the company that you are very keen to go back to your earlier field.
  • naga ratna kumar: i am in a confusion either to go to software side or construction core side
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Naga, Go for your construction core. If required, you can very easily switch to software since software has lot of openings.
  • zafar: I am also very interested in game programming.. As my final year project I am developing a networked 3D game in Jave 3D.. How can I enter into the game development market?
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Zafar, Gaming is a big market. Look for companies in this space. Now, you also have the options to develop apps for mobile - Android, IPhone, etc.
  • Sneha Talwalkar: Hi,What is better mtech at iits or ms at reputed universities abroad? Coz mere BE is not sufficient for specialising in a core domain
  • Shalabh Nigam: MS at reputed universities abroad is better since it will also give you a global perspective and broaden your horizon. MTech at IITs require some improvements but that is a different debate on the education system in India.:)
  • Haramardeep Singh: Hi Sir, I am Doing MS in VLSI from Bangalore And have just 3 months Experience . I want to do Internship in New Delhi in Core VLSI Company. Tell me the way I can Apply for Internship

  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Shivakumar, if there are 4 dedicated and committed folks, they can easily develop a website. The other challenges will be around monetization, evangelization, etc. which can come later. Definitely doable.
  • SHUBHAM: 2.INTERNET MARKETING(I WANT TO PREPARE FOR GOOGLE ADWORDS CERTIFICATION AND ANALYTIC CERTIFICATION.CAN YOU PLS SUGGEST ME BEST OPTION BETWEEN BOTH OF THEM ARE ANY NEW OPTION.
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Shubham, Analytics is going to be very sought after in future since data is increasing at a very fast pace and lot of intelligence is buried inside the data. I would recommend analytics.
  • ASHWINI KHARE: i am confused between two whether to go for a short time telecom training or for a full time telecom management course
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Ashwini, Check the specifics within the two courses mentioned and then see what interests you. Based on my experience, specialization will have value as more people graduate, etc.
  • ADIL HAIDER KHAN: I am persuing B.Tech(IT), I am final year student. Sir, which is best for me either Networking or Software field. Please mention growth, scope for next 10 year.
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Adil, Both networking and software will continue to grow in coming 10 years. After initial few years, your interest will define what you want to do so don't look that long term. Take baby steps towards your career, few years at a time. Things evolve and no real predication for 10 years from now.
  • SHUBHAM: AND SIR THE FIRST STEP IN INTERNET MARKETING IS SEO BUT IF YOU REMAIN IN SEO FOR 1 YEAR YOU CAN JUST GET SLARY OF 15000 MAXIMUM.
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Shubham, An expert in any field can always command much more salary. Salaries are a function of demand and supply also lot of times. I am sure you can draw much more salary if you pursue the field with full dedication and attempt to become a world class expert. Anything less, you know the answer.
  • Varun Shankar: Hi Shalabh, I'm a B.tech graduate (2010 passout). I'm working in a BPO now but planing to quit. and look for s/w jobs. Would you recommend doing a course or will I get a job being a 2010 pas
  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Varun, Unless you have something which you have done earlier to stake your claim, it might not always be easy. Try the direct route first and be prepared to do a course which offers some industry experience so that getting a job is easy.
  • brijesh: hallo sir,My name is Bijesh kumar Jaiswal completed B.E(COMPUTER),CCNA AND RHCE.And i am looking forward for IBM Tivoli courses but now at present i dont know the future in these courses.

  • Shalabh Nigam: Hi Sushrut, Training with a agenda is always helpful. General trainings don't help. Sometime companies use this as a ploy to delay hiring so you would have to judge the company based on the merit of their responses.
  • sushrut sharma: sir no company visiting in telecom for direct recuritment rather they first ask us to have a training in companies like simtech bharti maxel or tech vidya are these really benificial
